Meet The Team Susan Brooks

Meet the Team: Susan Brooks

Reading time: 2 minutes

Susan is our hard-working Allied Health Manager, and she oversees our aged care and disability teams to ensure that we're providing the best services to our clients. Before this role, she also worked in our Clinical Excellence team.

What does your role involve?

I do a few different things. I manage the Allied Health Teams who provide aged care and disability services, the home modifications teams and our support teams. I also have a role with the GEAT Longitudinal Study and am a member of the Executive Team.

What do you like most about your role and working at Indigo?

I am an Occupational Therapist by background and have worked in Allied Health mostly, other than my early years in hospitality! I really enjoy contributing to allied health service provision and assistive technology. I enjoy solving problems and working with all the staff so we can deliver our best service.

Tell us about the most interesting project you have worked on during your career.

I think the GEAT Longitudinal Study has been really interesting, we had big challenges getting this going with so many participants. The success of this is due to the dedication of all the team, this includes all the CSO's, IT professionals, Team Leads and Therapists involved along the way.

Describe a memorable moment arising from your role.

There are so many, learning how to use AlayaCare or the CHSP manual are pretty memorable! But mostly it is the interactions with staff and clients, it is really nice seeing people working together to achieve goals.

Of the four Indigo values (integrity, passion, creativity, together), which one do you express the most strongly during your workday and why?

I am very passionate about providing allied health services to people in the community. I also think the right assistive technology solution for people has the ability to really improve their life. Whether it be something low cost to make life easier to something really significant. Did you know globally more than 2.5 billion people need one or more assistive products? And with ageing populations this is expected to expand to over 3.5 billion by 2050! There is a global unmet need with as few as 3% of people in some low-income countries reporting to have access to the assistive products they need! In Australia things are more positive, in part thanks to organisations like Indigo!
